Anyone interested in how Betty Who writes songs. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced songwriters welcome.
There are many ways to write a song. You can use just your voice and a notebook. You can use piano and guitar. You can use the DAW and production tools.
Our intention is to make this course accessible to anyone, regardless of their skillset. We might talk about some theory stuff and some production stuff as we go into it, but we will make sure to include resources when we do for those who aren't familiar with those concepts yet.
That's OK! We tried to pick a time that could work for the maximum number of people, but we know it won't always work for everyone. As such, we will record every workshop and share the recording around afterwards. Also, you're welcome to submit questions in advance.
Yes.
Two things: 1) Feel free to reach out to the course manager Ian Temple and [email protected]. He's happy to discuss your situation and whether this is right for you.
2) If you sign up and realize within the first week that it's not the right fit, we will offer you a refund.
Taught by Betty Who, facilitated by Ian Temple of Soundfly.
Betty Who is a singer, dancer, and multi-instrumentalist whose soaring pop anthems and vibrant energy have made her a global fan favorite. From her viral breakout Somebody Loves You to her hit album BIG and recent singles Run! and Sweat, Betty blends powerful vocals with euphoric, genre-bending sound.
Fresh off her Out of the Darkness Tour, which lit up the 2025 Pride season with a World Pride stop covered by The Washington Post, Them, and Billboard, she continues to bring authenticity to everything she does—from hosting Amazon’s The One That Got Away to her Broadway debut as Persephone in Hadestown. With bold new music and creative chapters ahead, Betty Who is entering her most electric era yet.

Ian Temple is a writer, educator, pianist, and entrepreneur. He founded Soundfly in 2014 and has created or managed almost 100 online courses. As a musician, he's one-third of the experimental trio Sontag Shogun, with whom he's released multiple albums and toured extensively across Europe, North America, China, and Japan. He also writes a popular substack called Soundfly Weekly about music and the creative process.
